Smile What did you get for Christmas?

I got an ecard which said "Not your average shite present"
I opened it to discover I had been given enough cow manure to fertilise an acre of some farmer's land in Bangladesh!
I was thrilled what a great present!

I also got my very own Sonic Screwdriver !!
Absolutely essential tool for doing for almost anything !

The screwdriver came from a company called Geek.com and their catalogue is full of fascinating stuff
(You know you are a Geek when. . .?)
One thing that really did interest me was a little tool that looked about the size of a USB stick that scanned photographic slides and turned them into jpeg files. I have boxes and boxes of old slides. It wasn't cheap at $99 but not too expensive either.

I got an almost new (used) 30 Gig iPod. I was stunned.
Now I have to find out how to use it, because it came with no instructions!

Presents, I don't need no stinking presents,

But I did get to spend some quality time with the grandkids, we all had a great time.

Make time for times like this!

You will be able to download all the music that has ever been on the planet onto that and spend the rest of your life listening to it!

I also got two interesting sciencey books "How to Fossilise Your Hamster and other amazing experiments" and The Pedant's Return. I am sure lots of bits from both will end up in Hypog's Quirky Facts. The Hamster one would be a must-read for any teacher of junior science- a lot of fun stuff Including exploding mentos and coke.

Even "The Magician's Birthday" by Uriah Heep???

Whoa. Now, I'm impressed. Thanks for the tips on the two books.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?

Much to my surprise, I received a Garmin GPS unit for my car.
I also got an amazing "coffee table" book of rainforests. Absolutely stunning pics in there...
I got a sweater, some boxers, and a pair of socks as well.
And perhaps my favorite gift of all: a gift certificate to my favorite restaurant, a Japanese steakhouse.

It was a great xmas overall.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?

Attached is a scanned page from "The Pedant's Return" (Why Things That You Think Are Wrong Are Right)
I hope you can read it. It must have been the inspiration for the Good Angel's bible collection in N. Gaiman and T. Pratchett's "Good Omens"
I hope it is readable.

Remember to upload it, then attach it. There are two steps. I've sometimes uploaded images but forgotten to go back and attach them myself.
