Re: what do ya do when feeling depressed?
When I get depressed I do one of the following:
1. Listen to sad songs and feel sorry for myself (doesn’t help much).
2. Go somewhere public, I people watch and shake my head at all of the
stupidity and ignorance I’m surrounded by.
3. Go to bed for 12 hours, wake up and take a shower.
4. Take some St. Johns wart (a anti-depressant herb)

I more recently discovered that my depression is a sympton of Asperger's Disorder & while that knowledge has not lessened the depression, it has dramatically changed my view. If I isolate myself when I feel the worst, even if that means days or weeks of not interacting with people, I believe the hopelessness will pass & I maybe, just maybe, I have something to go on for after all.

Re: what do ya do when feeling depressed?
I have a big collection of music,
I start with a slow song,
then listen to something a little more upbeat,
then get a little bit jazzyier
then a little more
until finally, I'm happy again,
listening to a happy - upbeat song

in fact, when i am feeling down, i'll just spark up some other kind of mysterious thought and try to understand it.
i usually just listen to complicated music and try to figure out everything the musicians are doing. it's as menacing as it is beautiful, and then eventually i forget that i was even down in the first place.

I either study or play cello. If all fails I take a couple of trains to go visit the aquarium.

Depression, the lack of excitement in one's life. When I feel the need for a little inspirational lift, I click onto Hypography. Seems to always work for me.

Re: what do ya do when feeling depressed?
Depressed? Who the heck has time to be depressed? I'm no sally-sunshine, but there really is so little to be down about. I mean - I wake up every morning. I breathe in air. My children are healthy. My husband loves me. I have a decent life.
Yes, I've had troubles. Drinking, abusive ex. Child almost died. Mother did die. Money woes like you can't imagine.
But you have to just keep plugging through, one day, or one minute, or one second at a time, and the crisis passes (it always does), and you learn a little, laugh a little, maybe even cry a little, but you just keep breathing.
I think it's all in the way you look at things, myself. No offense to anyone out there that is depressed, but it's not something I have time for in my life, and I hope I never do.

If I can't get my hands on a bowl you'll find me listening/singing to some Paul Brandt to get me out of any depressed mood... a few of his tunes that're more likely to shake me up and get me moving are 'Convoy', 'My Heart Has a History', and my ever favorite: 'Canadian Man'
'Canadian man. At your service, from the land of the chill. If I can't warm you baby, nobody will. A genuine Canadian man. Strong and free, that's the true-north, and baby that's me. I'll salute you a long as need be. A genuine Canadian man...'
