Talking Tag List

Tag! You're it. Where ya goin' with all those tags Turtle?

With the new Easter facelift/upgrade, the old tag feature is gone, gone, gone. No more does the interface choose tags from the title and/or post bodies. Instead, each member may enter as many as 8 different tags to any thread. The display box "Popular Tags" is compiled from these member-entered tags only. The more often a tag is used, the larger the typeface it gets in the list. Get it?

Oh yeah...clicking on a tag in the cloud brings up a list of all threads with that tag.

So, tag; y'all are it.

What can I say? I love learnin' systems. I was gonna bring it up in Pyro's Index thread, but I saw you all caught some hell for that stunt. So, I see this tag system as a means for each member to index their posts much as Pyro has set out his desires. This brings up the question does the tag cloud expand continuously for every new tag, or does it truncate at some set value?

I have no idea how it works. It's like kids. They keep growing but suddenly they stop, and that's when the real problems begin. Strange, huh!

Mmmmmm...strange is good. I see a voice from the velvet cloud has overarched my suppositions with superpositions. These kids just slay me. What won't they think of next.

Ooooo....like a tagatar!!??? Maybe use arcane symbols from the Windows Character Map or other handy source? © I'll see if that works and append the copyright symbol as a tag to this thread.

Now I see the tag cloud is only updated on some periodic basis as yet undetermined; it's not immediate at any rate.

PS It works!! Gotta have at least 2 characters though.

If you have Windows, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Select Character Map. Scroll through the typesets at the top of the Window that opens to find what you like, then select a character by clicking it, and then click copy to copy it to the clipboard. Now it's on your clipboard and you paste it in text as you would any other. If you don'ty have Windows, I have no idea.

PS I don't see my 2 copyright symbols tag in the tag list yet, so either they won't show or maybe we can figure out how often the cloud gets updated.
