Looking for help in finding a job

This is off topic of the forum i think but thought it would fit here better than any of the others, and i feel hypography would be good site to ask it so hopefully i can be forgiven.

Anyway, im after for a job in a field that im interested in and am looking for advice on a way to go about it. The field of interest is mainly biology, although genetics, chemistry etc., is of course of interest as well. I dont have any qualifications in the subject, although am in the process of working towards my degree in biology with home study (1 year in so far part time, 6 in total they say).

Obviously i dont expect to get anything of note in the field straight away, but just as long as it's in the field would be great. An assistant or something i was thinking; carry this, type that, dig a hole whatever.

So that's my idea. My question is how may i go about getting something like this? I look at job sites all the time but dont ever seem to see anything of the sort. Descriptions always ask for degree or something in the respective field, which i havent got yet.

I was thinking maybe write to a university to see if any of their professors/researchers need a grunt for something, but is this the right thing to do you think? Maybe they'd think i was crazy wondering what this wacko is doing writing to them asking for a job when he hasnt got any education (GCSE's, adv GNVQ only).

Sick of the jobs i have you see and would love to get into biology before im qualified so to speak. I seem to be at a loss so any help or knock in the right direction of how i may go about it would be wonderful.

Thanks

Re: Looking for help in finding a job

The absolute best thing to do is just go up to an employer and ask!
I'm not sure what exactly you want to be doing, but finding a science-related job is as simple as walking into the lobby of a pharmaceutical company or other place of research and asking to speak with someone about employment.
Just look through the phonebook for companies that catch your attention, look them up on the internet, and see if what they do interests you. Most private research companies are willing to hire interns, and they generally pay pretty well.

Good luck!
