Can anyone suggest a good science magazine that is not geared only to scientists but to a more general audience. I am looking for a magazine that covers current topics in science and covers science more broadly (not focused on one particular field like biology). Scientif American comes to mind but don't know if this is a good one or not. I know there are others just can't think of the names. Any help would be appreciated.

Popular Science comes to mind, and also Popular Mechanics (which I personally like better - geared more towards tech/new inventions). Scientific American is pretty good, but I don't get a chance to read it all that much. There is also the weekly news mag, Science News. It is pretty good, small, but then again it IS weekly.

Hope this helps some.

New Scientist is my personal favorite, it is also a weekly magazine. You can read a lot of their news online at http://www.newscientist.com/.

Scientific American is a great magazine, and since it comes out monthly it is usually easy to read it all...but I find it to be heavier than most other "popular science" magazines. Tehri website is also good, http://www.sciam.com/. They sell special online features in PDF format which are quite good (compilations of updated articles on specific subjects), a steal at $5.

Your local library probably has a number of science mags, you should check it out.

Has anyone heard of the science magazine Omni? I was not sure if it was still in existence. It is an American publication.
