Would You Give Out my Phone Number?
So this came up more then once, and i figured i should ask what the masses thought about this.
For the last few years cell phones (or mobile phones) have become an integral part of our life and society. Overwhelming majority of people in the urban environment have them, and the majority of offices have them as well. But like with anything in our society, there are unwritten rules, so there are or must be with mobile phones.
Here's one that pisses me off the most (for lack of a better term). When people give my phone number to other people, without asking or even notifying me, especially if this deals with work...
Should there be an unwritten rule about not giving out someone's number without their discreete permission? What do you guys think?

Re: Would You Give Out my Phone Number?
I just think its utmost rude... i've stopped picking up my phone if i don't know the number, unless i'm not sure, or its close to a number i know, they can leave me a message and i might call them back...

Re: Would You Give Out my Phone Number?
Sure dude, who do you want to have it? Or would you prefer to just broadcast it to everyone? Actually no, way back when I had a private number and a person could actually have a private number, I was very careful who had my number. To me a phone is a personal thing, no one should have the number if I didn't want them to have it. when the phone rings it should be someone I want to talk to. Now days I just let the machine get it, if it's someone i want to talk to i answer it if not I don't. My phone is for my benefit, no one else.

Re: Would You Give Out my Phone Number?
Amen, brother moon...
I dunno, i just dont get what people are thinking when they do this kind of stuff; its like violating my privacy, and by that loosing my trust and respect. I have not spoken to some people for a month because they have done this... apparently i'm not the only one

Re: Would You Give Out my Phone Number?
I voted "Yes, if it's for work."
As a college student, I don't really see the problem with giving out a friend's number to another friend if they ask.
For a professional environment though, I would say that it's probably an inconsiderate thing to do. I wouldn't like it.
