I still regard Worms as one of the best games ever. You never get bored of it playing with your friends. All the strategy comes into play. whether it be dexterity, preciseness, or strategic planning and teamwork.

I'm glad someone else had one of THOSE (board games) as their favorite. Personally, I like Monopoly with the kids, and RISK...but my hubby won't play Risk anymore with me. I get rather emotional when he cheats.

Of course, nothing beats a good game of Candyland with the babies on a cold snowy day, especially with a huge mug of cocoa and tons of those little tiny marshmallows!

The light dawns on me that this is somewhat obscure. The rules may be found http://www.chessvariants.org/xiangqi.html. Some of the links on the rules page are obsolete because it was written 11 years ago. I'll get them fixed, since I have editor privileges on that site. (You can even find my picture, but I'm not zadojla over there.)

___Wow; that Xiangqi is very complex. Some generalizations come to mind. The mathematics of game theory, in particular the stategy of tit-for-tat. Therin, in any cycle of good faith exchange, the best known strategy is to always cooperate until defaulted against & once defaulted against to always default yourself against your oppenent. It is proven that with the tit-for-tat stategy, the worst you can do is draw.

Re: What's the best game ever made, in your opinion? And why?

Opinion for Best Video Game: Silent Hill series. The Silent Hill games have excelent and well thought out story lines (although the storys are a little out there ), a perfect mix of jump and psychological scare tactics, puzzles that fit into the evironments (which range from practicly giving away the answer to 'you better study up on history, literature and cultural references' to answer), with a bit of action using lead pipes, pistols, shotguns etc... With each installment Konami is making this series more and more impressive.

Opinion for Best Board Game: Risk. World domination, nothing better then it (that is unless you wish for the more specific game that I think is a rip-off, called Axis and Allies). The rules are fairly simple, there are even chances of winning when attacking or defending, all over a great strategy game that makes you think out your next actions.

Opinion for Best Sport Game: Although there are a few I like, the one I respect the most is a game my friends and I created for hacky sack (kick bag). We call it Kill. The point of the game is to 'load' the hacky sack with either three kicks between two people or you do a special move. When it is loaded your job is to kick it at another person. After that is done, if a person does not touch it with their foot before it hits the ground, then they get a letter spelling out KILL. This game helps stretch your legs, your general flexability, and keeps you alert. If your not alert you may end up like a few people I know or even like me, who gets a bag filled with sand or beads hurled at your face at around 20+kph. Only stings for a few moments... after you have regained your senses.

My favorite game...Probably Dungeons&Dragons, the pen and paper game. I haven't played it much, because I can't find a DM, but it has the most replayablity of any game, and it is engaging.

As far as electronic games - Baldur's Gate II, with over 200 hours of game play I've replayed it at least once a year for the past four years and never been bored.

I'd agree on D&D, for the most part. I used to play a very customized version of it that would not have been to everyone's liking (we did away with concepts like Alignment and tried to make the game more realistic in many respects). That's part of the great thing about it. It can be whatever you want it to be. Of course, other RPGs have the same point in their favor, but D&D is the one I always went back to. Haven't played in about 12 years, though.

As for electronic games, wow, there are so many. Metroid was the best console game ever. The most fun I ever had with a computer game would have to be either Civilization 3 or Out of the Park Baseball (an obscure text-based strategy version of a baseball game that blows everything else out of the water).

Gran Turismo, the game actually opened my mind towards physics.
