I have, for the last couple of years, grown more and more irritated with modern music.
Apart from people copying riffs and complete melodies from older, succesfull (but at the time completely original) songs, the lyrics seems to have gone for a ball of organic fertilizer!

Case in point, and one of my candidates for the dumbest lyrics ever:

Roger Waters - Amused to Death, 1990 (or thereabouts)
"...and we all like the bit
where you take the jeans from the refrigerator
and then the bad guy gets hit
and were you struck by the satisfying way
the swimsuit sticks to her skin
like bb gun days..."
etc.

Now - can anyone NOT on any form of creative self-medication tell me exactly what the hell that means? And if you have even worse lyrics, this is the place to paste it and waste it!

you know to be honest, i like that!
i don't know man, i love roger waters. he's a great writer.
sometimes he is more vague than others, like that one above.
but that right there is definitely on his bad side.
after he left pink floyd....need i say more?
still, i know there's something nutty going on up there no matter what he's talking about.
as for dumb lyrics...gosh just turn on the radio. there's nothing really poetic or meaningful to almost all of that crap on there.
and then the dj comes in (the pusher of buttons with an exciting voice) over a loop recording of some techno and explains to his listeners to keep listening

it's pretty strange.....
i can't think of anything stupid off the bat right now...maybe later.

Yeah - Pink Floyd kicked ass. Definitely. Although there was some silly lyrics years ago with 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn'.

For instance:

"I know a mouse and he doesn't have a house
I don't know why I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old
but he's a good mouse."

Talk about mind-expanding drugs...

Another, classical attempt at a metaphysical explanation for everything around us to our purpose on Earth, was, of course, 'The Hokey-Pokey'. The nett result was just a stupid lyric, though...

"You put your left foot in
you put your left foot out
...
do the hokey pokey
...
and THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!"

Scary thought: Maybe they were right?

i stole those BOOM BOOM drum samples from the song, and the second half of the song is noise (the noise from the song, i didnt feel like recreating it)
and ummmm, yeah. no piano. still a cool song.

There's an a capella group known as Da Vinci's Notebook that seems to prey upon the poor lyrics of todays pop music. Such good ones like "Title of this Song" which is simply the recipe used for just about any boyband love song... a good listen.

As for bad lyrics...

My all time most hated song lyrics.......
Queen- "Bicycle". God I would rather put out cigarettes in my ears than have to hear that again.

If it's uploaded *somewhere* just use our [ music ] your url here [ /music ] tags! Doesn't work too well on Macs but splendidly on PC's (so post your link as well).
