This is a really old riddle, maybe some of you older members will remember it. And possibly, some of you younger members will solve it.

there is a rope ladder hanging down the side of boat, each rung is .5m apart. As the tide comes in the water rises 1.75 m per hour, if the ladder originally started with 17 rungs above the water at low tide, how many rungs will not be submerged in 3.5 hours?
