How is crayfish closer to "Grouch" than crab. Crab literately means grouch.

there are similarities in the trilogy and the Silmarillion to the Bible, but also to other mythologies. One can say the same about C.S.Lewis although some of his work is clearly written with a Christian theme.
i think i am missing the clue here, can you assist? or at least give me an inkling of a clue

If not for the part of riddle where the writer chooses the answer you would indeed have won. But I wrote it about a crayfish not a crab shellfish, don't be a whiner
