are you counting to determine the age of the trunk?
i guess you could cut into a large species of fish, look at the skeletal structure and determine the age of it

the body of a fish and other species is still referred to as a trunk- so you are cutting into a trunk

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.
