Re: Beer

When I drank beer it was Coors Extra Gold. I don't even know if that is available anymore. I have about 1 beer per year now when a social engagement calls for it. And I get a stomach ache.

A neutron goes into a bar and asks the bartender, "How much for a beer?"
The bartender replies, "For you, no charge."

Re: Beer

Jay-qu. You're having a laugh, aren't you?

In the Mother Country, not only do we import your beer, we import your bloody bars. My son is employed as a "Door Supervisor", (bouncer) at a bar called "Walkabout". Ausie beer and Ausie bar staff, and hundreds of drunken Poms who don't give a **** where the beer is from just as long as it gets them drunk. And yes, most of the beer is Fosters.

Re: Beer

By far, out of all my travels (which are incredibly limited, by we've got great stores catering to rich clientele in Austin ), my favorite has become one that's brewed in Maine in the Belgian style called "Allagash - Tripel."

OMG is it good! Is the drool apparent?

Well, I'm of the frame of mind that most will drink what they please, but...

Some people go all proud and drink "Lone Star" because we're the Lone Star State (that, and it's cheap!)
All too many drink "Bud Light," but that might be more the result of me being in a college town, not a TX thing.
Lots of Corona and Tecate (although, I really prefer Pacifico or Negro Modelo).
Live Oak is a good local.

There's a place downtown called the Gingerman, and is an old Belgian-style pub. They have 90 different beers from across the world... ON TAP!

And, yes, Austin is an oasis in this strange state we call Tejas. It has mountains, lakes, the colorado river, it's the capital, has multiple universities, including current NCAA football champs UT (hook 'em!)... and downtown has a live music scene like no other.

Re: Beer

Bud light might as well be Piss in a bottle!

I agree with you on Pacifico... better than Corona.

However, too much beer makes my Chi go Yang!!

That's why I drink scotch and good tequila most of the time.

Thumbs up Re: Beer

I only drink Guinness, and in moderation due to that calorie content. However its amazed me how all those skinny girls I used to work with in Dublin could drink the guys under the table and *stay* skinny. Musta been the cigarettes...or the extra-curricular activities after last call...

On microbrews, I'll put in a plug for my friends microbreweries: the Smuttynose Brewing Company in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the Northamton Brewery in Northamton, MA (hiya Pete and Janet!)...

Cheers,
Buffy

Re: Beer

last night I got drunk
You know.
My friend drove my other friends home.
He had not been drinking
AND WE STILL GOT PULLED OVER.

UGH IT WAS SO COLD OUTSIDE.

"Have you been drinking tonight?"
"Wooo, ahem* Yeah a bit."
"You do realize you are all under 21?"
"Yes officer"

It reminds me about the time i was at the beach and the ranger drove up.....

"What's that"
*hands him the glass bong*
*Cop sets it down on the ground*
*taps it with his Amazing Boot*
*the bong shatters*
"Whoops, my bad" Sarcasm ripping chest hair through his kevlar.
"You guys must have smoked quite a few rounds for it to break that easily."

"Yes officer,
We smoked many rounds "
