Re: Cats and Dogs, Dogs and cats

Wow BigDog..

Just try and 'think' of it from Charlie's view.. he does what comes natural.. Kill!
You have a fine specimen of a canine. Do the best you can to minimize collateral damage.
You can't punish some domesticated Alpha pets to your liking. I had a cat who was similar in homocidal potential.
You accept it as a sign of strength and survival evolution...

Killed a Raccoon?? Uh-Oh!

I would be worried for Charlies safety after this one. There are many people out there who dont even need a reason to kill a dog.

Build/buy a kennel with a top. Have a new rule that the dog may not be out on a chain unless people are in the yard with the animal. Make sure the gate to the kennel has some kind of snap lock. Dogs learn very fast to flip up handles of gates with their noses.

Or

Never leave the dog on the chain without a muzzle.

Re: Cats and Dogs, Dogs and cats

I had a dog growing up but now I'm a cat person. Here are my cats Kitty and Tabby. They're from the same litter and generally hang around together.

Re: Cats and Dogs, Dogs and cats

Thats very cute Monomer

I got another cat through a housepet rescue organization from a lady in Federal Way, Washington who could no longer keep her.
Her name is Abby, and we have a little game we play in the morning with a cat toy.
Of course no cat will ever take the place of my best bud Bishop who disappeared/died last Oct. '05.

She is very curious and bright. I taught her to avoid cat traps last week, after trapping her a couple times with some Fancy Feast bait.
She likes to go outdoors, and she's a bit aloof.

Her markings make her difficult to see in the dark, but she's awfully cute.

Re: Cats and Dogs, Dogs and cats

She's cute! Nice and fluffy. She looks a lot like a cat my sister and I adopted years ago.

The other day I was watching a documentary on cats and there were these ladies who were cat cuddlers. They would go to a rescue shelter and cuddle each of the cats so the cats would get used to being handled so that when they were adopted out they would be good pets. It also prevented the cats from becoming wild because if a cat hasn't had human contact before a certain age, they will never be able to be someone's pet. I thought a cat cuddler would be such a great job.
