| A different person | Re: Inspiring stories One day a student approached a spiritual teacher. He asked for help in his problems and guidance. The teacher told him to abandon spiritual studies and leave at once. A spectator of the incident was puzzled by this behavior of the teacher. The teacher told him to wait for a demonstration. A bird flew into the room after some time, it darted hither and thither not knowing how to get out. The teacher waited until the bird settled near an open window and then suddenly clapped loudly. Alarmed the bird flew straight out of the window. Now, the teacher said, 'To the bird the clapping sound would have been a kind of shock, but it helped it to escape.' ---------------- While engaged in the persuit of the truth be ready for the unexpected. | A different person | A man who was leading a rather comfortable life, one day went to see a sage, who was reputed to have great knowledge. He sad to him: 'Great sage, I have no material problem, and yet I am unsettled. I am not as happy as I want to be, because I am unable to find answers to my inner thougths, to come to terms with the world. Please advise how I may be cured of this malaise' The Sage answered:' My friend what is hidden to some is apparent to others, and what may be apparent to some is mystereous to others. I know the cure for your ailment. All you have to do is to find the happiest man and wear his shirt'. The seeker went about seeking the happiest man by travelling far and wide. He asked many, but everybody had the same reply: 'yes i am happy but I know another person who is happier than me". After a prolonged search lasting several years he ultimately reached a jungle, which was known to be the abode of the happiest man. As i walked towards the abode of that person, he heard the loud sound of his laughter, he quickned his steps to face that man and asked him: 'Are you the happiest man in the world?' 'Certainly I am' he retorted. 'My name is so and so, my condition is such and such. The great Sage has told me that I will be cured if I wear your shirt, so please give it to me, I promise to give anything you desire in exchange'. The happiest man looked at him and started laughing again. Why did he laugh, who was he,? Can you guess the conclusion of this story? ---------------- While engaged in the persuit of the truth be ready for the unexpected. Change alone is unchanging. | |
