Americans Win

Well, both the Tour de France and British Open Golf Classic concluded today.
Very respectable and high prestige events.

And Americans won them Both!

The Tour de France story is almost better than the Lance Armstrong story!
Floyd Landis needs hip surgery, yet managed to come from behind.
(his personal story is remarkable! )

And of course Tiger is the best golfer on the planet.

How does America, despite all its negatives and hatedness, keep producing remarkable wins? concerning Olympics, Professional sports, whatever?

Re: Americans Win

Whaddaya mean 'remarkable wins'? Like - uhm - SOCCER? CRICKET? RUGBY?

Hahahahaha!

No - really - I personally find soccer to be the most boring game ever invented by mankind. But you suck at it!

Re: Americans Win

I think that most of our wins are simply due to the fact that we're a huge, modern, wealthy nation.

Re: Americans Win

Then again, Japan are world champions of baseball, surely an even more boring game than soccer.
The interesting question is, which countries, other than the USA, have sufficiently nationalistic inhabitants to start threads like this?

I love baseball.Statistics on every possible scenario.I score every game I attend;I bring a calculator and punch in numbers to see if I can predict certain match-ups.Loads of fun!

You have a point ughaibu,Mercedes Benzene relegates sports not "owned" by the U.S. to the random winter Olympic sports bin.If we're not good at it,the sport isn't important...

There seems to be a fine line between patriotism and nationalism.(I'm not implying anyone posting here is nationalistic.)

place clever observation here

Speaking of the World Cup Final -

There was a report that Sophie Ellis Baxter was found dead the next morning in Zenadine's apartment. They said it was murder on Zidane's floor.

and even though team USA didn't win in basketball during the olympics, everyone knows who rules that global game.
The NBA may be the best, but look at the players - many of them are coming from overseas, we may have the best individual players, but the rest of the world produces better team players...ironic, ain't it?

We once rewarded excellence. Now we have diversity.

What destroyed Rome? State Christianity, bread and circuses for the mob, angry barbarians at the gate. Bush the Lesser did the hat trick.
