Eternal Rock Band

OK, here is the premise...

You are going to start a rock band. There are going to be six members of the band. You must have a lead singer, a lead guitar, a bass player and a drummer. The other two positions are entirely up to you.

Here is the catch. You must pick people from different time periods. One each from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90', and 2000+. When naming an artist who is from multiple eras you must specify which era you are choosing. For instance, do you want 60's Paul McCartney (Beatles) or 70's Paul McCartney (Wings).

Don't forget that you will need some song writing and performing.

Here are a couple to start...

My wife's list
50's - Elvis Presley - Lead Singer
60's - Jimmy Hendrix - Lead Guitar
70's - Stevie Ray Vaughn - Lead Guitar
80's - Tommy Lee - Drums
90's - Flea - Bass
00's - Derek Sherinian - Keyboards (touring with Billy Idol)

My list
50's - Les Paul - Rythm Guitar
60's - John Entwistle - Bass
70's - David Gilmore - Lead Guitar
80's - Stewart Copeland - Drums
90's - Prince - Vocals
00's - Nelson Thompson - Puckalist

Re: Eternal Rock Band

Too hard! For me its all somewhat random...

Here's one pass:

50's: Charlie Mingus (Bass)
60's: Keith Moon (Drums)
70's: Keith Emerson (Keyboards)
80's: Brian Setzer (Lead Guitar/songwriter)
90's: Liz Phair (Vocals/songwriter)
00's: Kaki King (Rhythm Guitar)

Little bit o' everything,
Buffy

Re: Eternal Rock Band

This is tougher than I first thought! Here Goes:

50"s - Chuck Berry (Guitar)
60's - Billy Preston (Keyboards)
70''s - John Bonham (Drums)
80's -* Mike Watt (Bass)
90's - Beck -(Vocals, Multi -Instrumentalist, Producer)
00's -** Sharon Jones (Vocals)

Assuming people have head of the others-

* Mike Watt was the fantastic bassist for The Minutemen, an 80's punk band.

**If you like traditional soul/ funk, Sharon Jones (and the Dap-Kings) is some of the funkiest sh!t you'll hear, I saw them last year in Mpls. One of the best shows I've ever seen. They tour relentlessly, don't miss them if the come to your town.
