Star Trek

Any Star Trek Fans here? I just love the episode called "Shuttlepod One" the clip on the UPN site: *SPAM DELETED* I love this episode on a mission to investigate Trip and Reed are convinced that the Enterpriser has been destroyed. Anyway, you can win some stuff at this site which makes it all the better ...

I think the thing I liked best about Star Trek was they knew when to quit - what's that, there are still spinoffs floating around out there somewhere? Well, at least I know when to qu

Well, if you mean by fan one that has enjoyed the show over the years, then yes. I've watched all the incarnations since the show first aired. But, its also true that ST is fictional and not scientific in the strict sence of the word. I think the major cord that the show hit with the general public was the idea that our future could be good. I've often thought that as far as science fiction shows go the series Babylon Five probably was closer to the truth in that not only was the proposed means of getting around rather wormhole based(even though wormholes suffer the same problems as other proposed methods), as well as showing human's still had all the major problems to deal with that we do at present. Its like Hawking, himself a fan, loves to point out. StarTrek is not our future.

Don't say that too loudly, or masses of Klingon impersonators might assault you for crushing their worlds! However, I do agree with you. Star Trek is more social based than science based - and it's funny to see the changes to it over the decades. Some other shows seem to be much more scientific... even if I'll admit I wouldn't watch B5 at first because I was so angry that the Next Gen was cancelled.. hmpf!!
