Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

Ok, that's the first serious and very valid point someone has made toward this thread. Hats off everyone to eclogite.

Also understand that Eddy_P has posted this lunacy here before.

Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

This is so exciting! My kids have no idea what a record is, yet we sent one up on Voyager. If the Ancient Egyptians had a CD this means that we will discover time travel and go back into history to guide the Egyptian civilization between now and when the CD is no longer the preferred media. That means what, 5 years? This is the most exciting news ever!

Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

what's funy is a sphere and a circle are just the best way to occupy a space.

To add to the lunacy: Records, CDs, DVD, BlueRay, Floppy disks (5&1/4" & 3&1/2")...they all use a circular data storage medium, so who'se to say we won't for years to come? it's easyer to spin a disk & read one place than to spin the reader.

Talking Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

___It is not too big a stretch to interpret the gold plates in the Book of Morman as records. Think of the "silver bows" as transformer coils, the stones as permanent magnets, etc.. It's not a bad description of an electronic Hi-Fi. Mmmmmmm....

Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

I looked up in my Bible and sure enough, I found all of these letters at strategic places:

M
P
3

Do you think it can be a prediction of the fall of the music industry???

Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

What I find disappointing about the sort of nonsense we have been discussing here is that it reduces the chance that serious issues will be treated seriously.
For example, it is clear that the pyramid of Cheops was a remarkable work. Its dimensions and location suggest an understanding of geometry, geography, astronomy and Earth mensuration that is, in part, at odds with the conventional understanding of Egyptian knowledge at the time of its construction. However, it is very difficult for a balanced investigation of these possibilities because as soon as they are raised they are hijacked by the loonies. They become immediate evidence for interventions by the citizens of Atlantis, or aliens, or angels. Serious scholars therefore, consciously or unconsciously, ignore them completely. That is a loss.

Eclogite, I would love to discuss one or more of those topics in a serious vein. Building of the pyramids, Bigfoot, yeti, aliens & UFOs. Everyone does Atlantis, but what about Mu? Point is, you can't avoid serious discussion around here. But once in a while someone lobs up something really juicy, like the coincidence of things being small and round arbitrarily tying totally unrelated events across thousands of years together, and you can't just let that go. You gotta take the shot!

No offense intended, and I hope no harm done.

Re: Compact Disk depicted on Egyptian papyrus texts

The most logical explaination for these disk shaped objects depicted in Egyptian Hieroglyphs is that they represented the "Aten", which meant sun. Was at one point worshiped by Ancient Egyptians. Here is proof... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aten
