Thumbs up Science of Yoga

Yoga is the science of sciences, for it deals with experience, not theory. It is not haphazard, as is much of religion, but deal with definite laws, and produces results.

See http://atmajyoti.org/meditation.asp for articles on Meditation.

Welcome, tarakananda. But to claim that anything is "the science of sciences" because it deals with experience and not theory shows an incredible lack of understanding as to what "science" means.

Why is experience more important than theory? Do you really believe that there is no theory in yoga?

Re: Science of Yoga

Thank you for your response.

I in no way meant to denigrate science, and, yes, I agree there is theory in Yoga. I merely mean to state that Yoga is a science, and that its glory is that it leads to the culmination of knowledge, as it says in the Upanishads: Know that which, when known, nothing remains to be known.

I refer you to the works of Prof. I. K. Taimni, especially The Science of Yoga (Quest Books), as well as Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, and Raja Yoga by Swami Vivekananda.
