Nobel Prize in Medicine shared by three scientists
The Swedish Nobel Institute presented the annual Nobel Prize in Medicine to Arvid Carlsson, Paul Greengard, and Eric Kandel, for their discoveries concerning signal transduction in the nervous system.

Their research has brought important breakthroughs in the study of brain functions. This has resulted in the development of new drugs for therapy and treatment.
The prize consists of $915,000, which will be shared between the three scientists. The Nobel Institute in Sweden, which awards the prizes, has a board of more than 50 members working as a jury. All three recipients are over 70 years of age.
The prizes for Physics and Chemistry will be presented on October 10.
